Carl HonorÉ

Award-winning writer, broadcaster, TED speaker, voice of global Slow movement

The Huffington Post has referred to Carl Honoré as “The unofficial godfather of a growing cultural shift toward slowing down.” His first book, In Praise of Slow, is an international best-seller, and his 2005 TedTalk on this topic has gotten over 3 million views. Before spearheading the Slow Movement, Carl spent a decade working as a journalist. He covered Europe and South America for the Economist, Observer, Miami Herald, Houston Chronicle, Time, National Post and other publications. Carl lives in London. While researching his first book on slowness he was slapped with a speeding ticket.

After seven years at Time magazine, he moved to The New Yorker, where he has been a staff writer since 1965. A Fellow of the Geological Society of America and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, he was awarded in 1999 the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction (Annals of the Former World).
