Bozeman & Beyond

Rory Martin

Growing up in Foreign Service, expedition travel in Antarctica, Bozeman.

The son of a U.S. diplomat, Rory’s formative years were spent in locations around the world. By the age of 16, he had already lived on five continents. He was born in South America and grew up in Colombia, Paraguay, Brazil, Pakistan, Iceland, and Botswana. As a teenager living in Iceland, Rory developed his love for nature and the sea, spending summers working on a farm in a remote area of northern Iceland and the remainder of the year helping a commercial fisherman in Reykjavik. It was in Botswana that his real love of nature and adventure took hold, with Rory spending much of his time in the bush and enjoying the wonders of Africa. Rory’s adventures continue to be varied and widespread. He has traveled to most of the far corners of the world, from Franz Josef Land in the Russian Arctic to the South Pole and many places in between. He has been involved with expedition travel for most of his life: Taking horseback adventures across the Okavango Delta, southern France, New Zealand, and the Atacama Desert; scuba diving in many of the oceans and seas around the globe; trekking in the Andes, the Himalayas, New Zealand, the Rockies, and Alaska; and enjoying safaris and camping adventures in Africa. Rory also holds a 100ton USCG Captain license. Whether on land, on the water or under the water, Rory enjoys the continuous learning experiences offered by travel and adventure. Rory received his bachelor’s degree from George Mason University and his MBA from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. In his past business career, he was involved with the development and management of three businesses where he designed, developed, and tactically implemented and executed comprehensive business plans in financial services, government, consumer/hospitality, and technology.
